search engine optimisation [SEO] Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the first part or stage of the process of website promotion. Unless the website is optimized for search engines then it is unlikely to be ranked highly or listed in the first pages of search results. Your website needs to be optimized for its specific content focusing on the probable search terms your customers would use to find the products and services that you offer on your website. [SEO required?] There are very few situations where SEO is not required. In general, if your website offers products, services or information then it needs to be optimized for search engines. A search engine is commonly the first port-of-call for most internet users. [SEO review] Whether the website is brand new or has been online for years, it would usually benefit from an SEO exercise. Most websites also need to have the SEO reviewed periodically as the industry or market changes. [SEO returns] Carrying out search engine optimisation on youre website usually shows quick returns. Within a few weeks your website ranking and search results improve. In turn this results in increased traffic to your website, thus generating more enquiries and sales. [SEO process] Information gathering, details on your website, offerings and your customers. Keyword analysis, authoring of metanames and titles, search engine submission. This process would normally be completed in a few days from receipt of the information we ask for. Your web designers (Or whoever manages the website) will be required to make changes to the metanames of the website (this is not visible to the users and will not affect the appearance or functioning of your site). Results are normally observed within 6 weeks, the ranking and results continue to improve as time goes on. SEO should be seen as an ongoing to periodical process. Reviews of the website every 6 months have been shown to produce optimal results. [How much does SEO cost?] SEO is charged as a set fee plus extra pages £350 for the initial consultancy including 5 pages of the website. Each subsequent page is £35. It is normal to optimize all the primary pages of the website or each page that contains information on a specific subject, product or service SEO principles are included in our introductory training course Internet Marketing, How to get a Website that Works for Your Business and is covered in more depth in the training course: The what, why and where of keywords and content If you have a very large website you may benefit from our LEARN-by-DOING product.
